More about the challenge from Leader Pats
“ THE FABRIC CHALLENGE was inspired by a cover of THREADS magazine which featured a large floral print embellishing a calf length coat. When I was President (the 3rd) the old Pink House gave us many bolts of decorator fabrics that each N.G. [Neighborhood Group] could use as they wished. I still had 2 bolts in my garage that no one wanted, and I decided to use them for a challenge.
A large Crewel style floral aqua print was cut into a scant 1/2 yard and the aqua denim was cut into 1-yard pieces. ALL-washed, just to make sure the fabric was usable. The members could make anything with the fabrics-the denim was an option to use if they wanted. The fabrics were given early in the year and our "Great Reveal" would be December. All pieces were spectacular!! Hard to choose a favorite.
In the past we have had other challenges-a pattern, feathers amongst a few. From experience I know a pattern challenge is very hard =figure problems, so we did that only 1 time. Color is another difficult choice-but Aqua looks good on everyone and combines with other colors well.”
Come to FAR and take your sewing on an exciting journey with friends!
